Brno is becoming the centre of biomedical technologies
The first biotechnology exhibition and fair in the Central Europe BIOTEC 2006 presented the key biomedical research projects in the Czech Republic. One of its parts - international biotechnology conference Gate2Biotech was visited by 200 participants.
Conference speakers included world-known professionals from the biotechnology and biomedical field represented by Ernst & Young, IBM, Intel,GE Healthcare, etc.
BIOTEC 2006 was held on the occasion of the establishment of the International Clinical Research Center in Brno (ICRC), which is the result of ongoing scientific collaboration between St. Anne's University Hospital Brno specialists and their colleagues at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN, USA).

Exhibitors represented a record-breaking number of 32 countries, for the first time ever were present companies from Croatia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan.Foreign companies occupied exhibition place by 1.000 m2 more than in 2005.
The number of foreign visitors has also increased and the structure of all visitors improved. The proportion of foreign visitors was 7,5% in the total number of all visitors. The Fair was attended by 1.369 foreign visitors in total.
The HOSPIMedica Fair was visited by foreign business missions from Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, China, Korea, India, Malaysia, Mongolia and Pakistan.
