The European biotech industry continued to show strong growth, according to an analysis of the auditing company Ernst & Young (E&Y). In terms of financing, the continent’s sector had a very strong year, raising a total of EUR 5.5bn in debt and equity capital. This is an increase of 18% from the EUR4.6bn raised in 2006. This was the largest-ever total for the European-industry, excluding the bubble year of 2000, and represents the fifth consecutive year in which capital has increased at double-digit rates.
