Summary: A Spanish public research organization has developed a method based on the real time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) technique to amplify any of the lineages of the the West Nile Virus (WNV) genome. Primers and probe used lead to a high sensitivity in the detection of all of the lineages and a high specificity towards the WNV. Biotech or pharmaceutical companies for further development under a patent license are sought for.
