Recently, there has been much said about the functional food, a food that have positive impact on our health. Thanks to the TV, almost everyone knows that the probiotic food helps to preserve the intestinal bacterial microflora and boosts the natural defense of the organism. What are the wrappings of the future going to be? Intelligent, active and biodegradable. The scientist developed, for example, the RFID-technology utilizing wrappings, that are able to communicate with a fridge or a microwave oven, signal the customer about the necessity of consumption or transfer the preparation information. Even now, there are wrappings being used that indicate the failure to keep the proper storage temperature or that are able to prevent the bacteria from multiplying. If we combine these unique properties with biodegradability, i.e. natural degradability, we are on the right way that the future development of wrapping materials is going to pursue in the decades to come, as found out by the editorial staff of Gate2Biotech.cz and Inovace.cz portals

The ticks are a nightmare of all the hikers, because one bite of a tick is enough to get a serious illness. Thanks to the warm climate, the ticks are recently thriving and the number of infected people is skyrocketing. The most topical medical research fortunately brings good news for us, for according to the recent clinical studies, in case of the Lyme-borelliose, a ten-day (or even four-day) antibiotics treatment is now enough, compared to the standard three weeks.
Another way of helping the tourists is the project of mapping the tick occurence in the area of Czech Republic that should result in a precise description of the risky regions where the ticks are very abundant, as well as the epicenters of tick-borne encephalitis and boreliose.
