MIT Venture Competition

The MIT/European "Building Global Innovators" program (BGI) (http://mitportugal-iei.org/) was originally established as a partnership between MIT and the government of Portugal (with the University Institute of Lisbon being the Portuguese administrator). The program is primarily funded by the Portuguese government and some private sponsors.
The decision was recently made to open it up to companies from other countries as well.
The BGI program manages an annual venture competition that offers to the selected finalists (20 companies) a strong support program (training, mentoring, networking) culminating in a 2 week training and investor pitching program at MIT and the chance to share in the euro 1M award (split by 4 winners).
I know that this is very short notice, but I was just asked to extend the invitation to apply to this year's venture competition to companies in the Czech Republic (as well as a few other countries).
I am therefore reaching out to you to communicate this opportunity to companies you know that may be great candidates.
Key features are:
- Deadline to submit May 31 (we are trying to get that extended, but that what it currently is…)
- Easy application process
- No costs to apply

- Companies should be early/seed funding stage - not more than 5 years incorporated (maximum)
- Cutting edge/new technologies/game changers
- 4 Areas eligible:
a) Health Tech (including devices)
b) IT/Web/cloud
c) Smart Cities
d) Consumer products
- 130-150 companies expected to apply - 20 selected for support/boot camps etc. between July - February
- All 20 companies eligible to attend training and investor pitching program in Boston/MIT Campus in Spring 2014
- 4 companies chosen to share euro 1M
