The Value of Agricultural Biotech for the EU and the Czech Republic

EuropaBio, the European Association for Bioindustries, is pleased to invite you to a half-day Round Table debate to explore the Value of agricultural biotech for the EU and the Czech Republic.
The event will take place in the Radisson SAS Alcron Hotel, Štěpánská 624/40, in Prague on Tuesday 2nd December from 9h30 to 13h00, followed by a light lunch.

In advance of the 2009 Czech Republic Presidency of the European Union and the ongoing discussion on agricultural biotechnology, the debate will focus on the contributions of agricultural biotechnology to the EU.
The event will be structured in two parts:
- Presentation of the key data on the area of biotech crop cultivation in Europe to highlight the increasing adoption of biotechnology in European agriculture. A high-level overview of the application of biotechnology within global and European agriculture will follow, focusing on the benefits farmers have received from 10 years of cultivating biotech crops in the EU. A Czech farmer will then explain his personal experience from cultivating biotech crops in the Czech Republic.
- An informal round table discussion among participants on the relevance of agricultural biotechnology to the key objectives of the Czech Presidency of the EU.
Invited participants include representatives of the Czech Government, national and European Parliamentarians, scientific community and industry. We would be delighted if you could join this debate which will present and assess the facts regarding EU biotech crop cultivation in advance of the 2009 Czech Republic Presidency of the European Union. We would of course also welcome the participation of your interested colleagues.
