Description: | The research at the Division of Analytical Chemistry is directed at combining traditional and modern aspects of analytical methodology with bioanalytical tools. This combination gives valuable understanding of biological and environmental chemistry and thus founds the basis for new analytical systems. Areas such as mass spectrometry, bioelectrochemistry (biosensors), bioaffinity assays, separation methods (gas, liquid, and supercritical fluid chromatography, capillary zone electrophoresis) and analysis of macromolecules (proteins, polysaccharides) are in focus. Additionally, methods for sample handling (clean-up and enrichment) in flow systems receive special attention (supported liquid membranes, microdialysis) as well as conditions for modern extraction methods (supercritical fluid extraction, microwave assisted extraction). Applications are found in areas such as biotechnology, medicine, occupational hygiene, and environmental science. |
