Description: | |
Hop (Humulus lupulus) belongs to one of the most important crops with great economical benefit. Especially the discovery of potential anti-cancer compounds in hop, stimulates molecular biology research of biochemical pathway(s) involved in production of secondary metabolites of lupulin. Our group concentrated mainly on analysis of expression of 7SL RNA genes as components of SRP (protein translocation system) (e.g. Matoušek e.a., Gene 239:173, 1999) and on analysis of hop genes co-determining bitter acid and prenylflavonoid production (e.g. Matoušek e.a., Plant Sci. 162:1007, 2002, Novák e.a. Biol. Plant. 46:375, 2003). Recent activities in this direction involve functional genomics of hop via genomic and expression libraries with main respect to regulatory elements (mainly Myb factors) and genes co-determining lupulin production. |
