Successful commercialisation of innovative R&D

Date: 9.5.2011

Commercialisation in Biotechnology, being a difficult and ambitious task, is related to many complex problems. The basic problem is that the scientists, to achieve success in commercialisation, even at the very beginning of leading R&D (applying for a grant), need to bear in mind many aspects which will be significant at later stages of R&D implementation. Those aspects cover patentability, consideration of the target product as well as a potential market for the implemented drug/product. Because at stake is both taxpayers money (grants) as well as investors funding (at a later stage), any, even small mistake at the beginning can have monstrous consequences.

Because of this, the education of scientists in commercialisation aspects is very important. This should be done by experts with hands on experience with commercialisation, because academic considerations are not always valid in the world of business. One of the experts with an extensive experience in commercialisation is Kate Gunning, Principal BioVisability, USA.

Kate will share her experience in commercialization during a lecture entitled: US Market Access - Models for Successful Innovation Commercialization. Kate will discuss how to use "best practices" to develop a valuable innovation ecosystem, and discuss recent case-studies in technology development. The lecture will take place during BioForum 2011 - The Central European Forum of Biotechnology and Innovative BioEconomy, on May 11th at 2 p.m. (CET +1) during the Tech Transfer - From Academia to Industry block in the andel's hotel in Lodz, Poland.

10th anniversary edition of BioForum 2011
Central European Business Forum of Biotechnology & Innovative BioEconomy
will hold on 11-12th May in Lodz, Poland.
